PhD in Computer Science

The duration of the PhD program is three-year. Its primary objective is the training of young researchers in the fields of Computer Science as well as the training of professionals who can work both in the world of university research and in the industrial world.

The objective of the program is the acquisition of skills in:

autonomous research with internationally recognizable and technologically transferable scientific results;
coordination with other experts on research/development projects with mathematical and computer science themes as well as multidisciplinary ones;
coordination of small research and development teams in both the academic and business contexts;
international communication of projects and results;
evaluation of the results results of the scientific literature at least in a specialized field.

The training program is divided into three levels: attendance of both basic and specialized lecture courses (mainly in the first two years); commitment to research projects, which allows to refine the research skills of doctoral students; preparation of the doctoral thesis under the supervision of the teachers advisors in the research areas chosen by the PhD students (third year). Students will participate in specialized seminars, and will have the opportunity to visit universities and partner research centers, or to carry out internships at companies or research centers.

Dottorato in Informatica

Il corso di Dottorato ha una durata triennale ed ha come obiettivo primario la formazione di giovani ricercatori nei settori dell'Informatica di base e applicata nonché la creazione di figure professionali che possano trovare sbocco sia nel settore della ricerca universitaria che nel mondo dell'industria.

Si prevede l'acquisizione di abilità in:

ricerca autonoma con risultati scientifici internazionalmente validi e tecnologicamente trasferibili;
coordinamento con altri esperti su progetti di ricerca/sviluppo con temi sia strettamente matematici ed informatici che multidisciplinari;
coordinamento di piccoli team di ricerca e sviluppo in contesto sia accademico che di impresa;
comunicazione a livello internazionale di progetti e risultati;
valutazione dei risultati e della letteratura scientifica almeno in un settore di specializzazione.

Il programma formativo si articola su tre livelli: frequenza di corsi di lezione (principalmente nei
primi due anni) sia di base che sulle tematiche di ricerca del dottorato; impegno in progetti di ricerca, che consentano di affinare le capacità di ricerca dei dottorandi; stesura della tesi di dottorato sotto la supervisione dei docenti specializzati nelle aree di ricerca scelte dai dottorandi (il terzo anno). Gli studenti parteciperanno a seminari specialistici, ed avranno la possibilità di effettuare soggiorni di studio presso università e centri di ricerca partner (anche stranieri), o di effettuare stages presso imprese, enti pubblici o centri di ricerca.
