About Me

I am a Ph.D Student at the University of Catania under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Maria Farinella since March 2018. I received master’s degree in Computer Science (cum laude) from the University of Catania in 2017. I joined the IPLAB from 2015.
My main research interests concern Computer Vision and Machine Learning, with a particular focus on First Person Vision.

Work Experience

CUTGANA (Centro Universitario per la Tutela e la Gestione degli Ambienti Naturali e degli Agro-ecosistemi)
Development of Computer Vision's algorithms for contexts/enviroments recognition from images acquired by wearable cameras for the V.E.D.I. (Vision Exploitation for Data Interpration) project for an "Integrated system of Behavioral Analysis and Augmented Vision for the improvement of the offer and use in the museum and natural spaces".
CUTGANA (Centro Universitario per la Tutela e la Gestione degli Ambienti Naturali e degli Agro-ecosistemi)
Visual data acquisition using Wearable Cameras such as Microsoft Hololens and GoPro. Software development for the data labeling.
IPLab (Image Processing Laboratory)
Analysis and development of Computer Vision and Machine Learning algorithms related to object detection and tracking to be integrated on drones for the world robotics competition MBZIRC 2017.

Implementation of the Food Understanding system using Convolutional Neural Networks. Use of the Caffe framework for managing CNNs. Use of programming languages such as Python and MATLAB.
